Studies for patients who are clinically free of disease but at high risk for recurrence. These often involve agents aimed at boosting the immune responses.

Metastatic Disease
First-Line: Studies for patients with metastatic melanoma that cannot be surgically excised or treated by other means, such as radiation therapy. These studies are limited to patients who have not had prior chemotherapy.

Second-Line: Studies for patients with metastatic melanoma who have had prior chemotherapy and experienced disease progression.

Third Line: Studies for patients with metastatic melanoma who have had up to two prior chemotherapy regimens and experienced disease progression.

Other: Compassionate: Studies for patients with metastatic melanoma who have had disease progression on previous treatment or could not tolerate previous treatment, and for whom no alternative drug or therapy is available.

Follow-on: Study for patients whose melanoma has responded to systemic treatment. Treatment under this study is aimed at consolidating and maintaining the remission.
